Oat Cell Carcinoma of the Gallbladder

Abstract
Oat cell carcinoma of the gallbladder is an extremly rare tumor. The clinical and epidermiologic features of patients with oat cell carcinomas are similar to those of other carcinomas of the gallbladder. Oat cell carcinomas can give rise to endocrine syndromes. The important reason for differential diagnosis between adenocarcinoma and oat cell carcinoma is that the chemotherapeutic approach and results are quite differnt between these two subtypes of gallbladder carcinoma.
Recently we experienced 53 year-old female patient with oat cell carcinoma of the gallbladder. Cancer infiltration of the medial segment of the left lobe of the liver and several lymph nodes in the porta hepatis area were also noted. Alternative chemotherapy with CAV(cytoxan +adriamycin+vincristine) regimen and VP16-P(VP-16+cisplatin) regimen was tried. After 4 cycles of chemotherapy respectively, partial response(near complete response) was noted.Verrucous carcinoma, a variant of squamous cell carcinoma, is recognized as a distinct clinicopathologic entity.
Three different cases of verrucous proliferative lesions of skin are described. One of each developed in, a bum scar on the sole, and two appeared in the region of the lower leg and lip in relation to chronic irritation and excessive smoking. Histologically all of the cases showed typical findings of well . differentiated squamous cell carcinoma and treated with wide excision.
